Jim Carey has spoken out against the flawed relationship between Big Pharma and the government.
Many shortcomings when it comes to drugs and the relationship they have with the government have been blamed on pressure for Big Pharma.
It is well documented that Big Pharma are ruthless when selling new money making drugs to the point of creating mass physiological problems.
The recent opioid crisis in certain parts of America is due to the ease and availability for many people to get their hands on dangerous and addictive drugs. Many people given synthetic opiates are now addicted to heroin, and certain states are bringing lawsuits on the pharmaceutical companies who created the problem.
Jim Carey has a personal relationship with the way pharmaceutical drugs can have a hugely negative impact on a persons life.
His relationship with anti-vaxer Jenny McCarthy whose son was permanently harmed after receiving a vaccine has made him an outspoken force against the dangers of certain drugs.
While Carey himself his pro-vaccines he says he is ‘anti-neurotoxins’, harmful ingredients which somehow make it into medicines deemed ‘safe’.
Speaking out against the unhealthy relationship that exists between the multi-billion dollar drug firms and the government Carey has said:
“Over the past 20 or so years, pharmaceutical companies have given nearly $300 million to candidates for federal office, spend almost $200 million influencing California state elections, and have amassed over $3 billion in fees for high-powered lobbyists in Washington”.
When you you to your doctor you might not expect that they are pressured by those in power to prescribe the drug that is going to make the company that made it the most amount of profit, but that is the sickening reality of what goes on all over the country on a daily basis.
Using his profile to raise this serious issue is a noble move by the comedian who has fans all over the world.
“…there’s a time to laugh and a time for serious debate over what it could mean to have our civil liberties taken away by our government at the behest of pharmaceutical companies and their shareholders”
