In an interview with CNN the other day, a witness to the Las Vegas shooting said that he was now a firm believer in God…
Taylor Benge, was appeared on the show (video below) and was interviewed by anchor, Rick Berman. He told of his frightening story about how his sister protected him by jumping on top of him in case there was gunfire in their direction. Thankfully, there wasn’t and they both escaped unharmed.
He went on to explain how the awful incident changed his opinions about God’s existence:
“…I know I can’t speak for everyone, but for me… I was Agnostic going into that concert, and I’m a firm believer in God now, ’cause there’s no way that… all that happened, and that I made it, and I was blessed enough to still be here alive talking to you today…”
After the experience that Taylor and his sister went through, we have absolutely no business telling him he’s wrong about his new beliefs and thanks him for sharing his honest thoughts.
However, there is the need to point out that it is the same God he thinks blessed him that decided to end the lives of 58 other people and wound at least 500 others.
It’s almost the same as of thanking a deranged murdered for going to the neighbor’s house instead of yours. You can’t praise a god for the sole reason you were fortunate enough to make it out alive while so many others in the same situation suffered.
