Pork factory’s grim secret exposed by drone.
One of the U.S biggest pork producer has a nasty secret that they thought they had well hidden, until a drone flew over their land and exposed it.
The processed meat industry has many dark secrets and a lot of people would be put off eating these products if they knew what really went on behind the scenes.
Thanks to a progressive society where people are hungry for the truth secrets are starting to become revealed, it wont be much longer that these companies can go on hiding their dirty practices, are for that we have advanced technology to thank.
This story has been exposed thanks to drone footage that unwilling picked up on something awful going on behind the scenes at the Columbia Meat Packing Company in Dallas.
David Mimlitch had been flying his drone and looking over the footage, interested in what new information this new technology had opened up to him.
Arial footage can be really interesting to pore over, especially when it involves places that you see often, but can’t see into. But when he looked a bit closer to the footage he saw something that looked very suspicious, he says that his first thought was “surely that can’t be legal”.
What David had seen was footage of a ‘river of blood’, illegally dumped pig blood from the pork factory into Trinity River. The company had gotten away with it for such a long time simply because no-one could see what they were doing.
Members of the company including two executives were charged with 18 crimes relating to dumping of the pig blood, but incredibly the charges were dropped. The company stopped operating as a slaughterhouse but instead changed to meat packing factory.
Smithfield Foods, one of the biggest meat distributors was also recently found to be guilty in similar circumstances, again found out thanks to drone footage.
Footage filmed by Mark Devries saw what he described looked like ‘four-times football-stadium sized lake full of blood’ which he has included in his documentary into unhealthy practices in the farming industry, Speciesism: The Movie.
