How low will Big Pharma sink?
Belgian Big Pharma executives in Belgium are to be charged with knowingly supplying large amounts of prescription drugs to create methamphetamine.
It has been reported that Mexican drug lord Ezio Figueroa Vazquez was supplied with the drugs from reputable drug companies.
Ephedrine was supplied, one of the main ingredients needed to make the highly addictive and destructive drug.
The identities of the executives have been kept a secret to protect them, but is has been revealed that two of the companies that are involved are Sterop and Andacon.
The executives first claimed that they didn’t know the identities of the people they were selling the drugs to, but prosecutors have claimed that they knew full well.
An Andacon representative said:
“The company made two shipments of two million pills containing pseudoephedrine in 2006. These medicines were freely available then. My clients delivered to a reliable commercial partner and had no idea of the inappropriate use of the drugs,”
Big Pharma favorite Adderall is basically the same as crystal meth, and the recent opioid crisis surrounding the drug Oxytocin is another drug that was heavily marketed and pushed on the unsuspecting public.
Anyone who believes Big Pharma has decent morals isn’t paying enough attention. They are the ones who control the majority of the world’s medicine, yet their allegiances lie in profits, not healthcare.
Earlier this year Big Pharma CEO John Kapoor was arrested and charged with pushing highly addictive drugs onto doctors in order for them to be prescribed to as many people as possible. Kapoor seemingly didn’t care about the health of his customers, just the amount of profit he was going to get from peddling his wares.
Meth is one of the most prevalent street drugs, and the people who make it need to get their supply from somewhere, it just so happens that there are plenty of people in the industry who are happy to help.
