Pope Francis has some wise words for bad Catholics.
Pope Francis has made a name for himself as being the most forward thinking Pope yet.
He has spoken on important issues and given frank and sensible advice, rather than sticking strictly to the Catholic doctrine like previous Popes, he has given some room to maneuver.
His most recent proclamations have come against what he describes as ‘hypocritical Catholics’.
White nationalism has been on the rise recently, no thanks to President Trump who has stirred racial tensions in America, being publicly outright racist and physically trying to build a wall between him and the Mexican’s (where’s the wall, Donald?).
This has not just been in America, in the U.K also and across the world there has been a rose of hate crimes, usually against minorities, and often these crimes have been perpetrated by ‘good Catholics’.
In the past, wearing a religious badge got you out of certain types of trouble, but Pope Francis has out a stop to this.
He says it is unacceptable to act in an un-Christian way and excuse your actions by hiding underneath the disguise of your religion.
“There are many Catholics who are like this and they cause scandal. How many times have we heard – all of us, around the neighborhood and elsewhere – people say: But to be a Catholic like that, it is better to be an atheist.
“In the Catholic Church, causing scandal is also a grave offense. It is that: scandal. But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another. That is a double life. Examples of such sins abound: from money launderers to business owners who take beach vacations while stiffing their employees.
“There are those who say: ‘I am very Catholic, I always go to mass, I belong to this and that association’. Some of these people should also say: ‘My life is not Christian, I don’t pay my employees proper salaries, I exploit people, I do dirty business, I launder money, I lead a double life’.”
