Tesla have pulled it out of the bag again.
Tesla’s new semi truck which has been anticipated for months has finally been unveiled, and its stats are something to be in awe of.
Blowing all other eco-vehicles out of the water, the specifications of this vehicle read like a top-of-the-range regular car. It has a 500-mile range, and it can reach 60 mph in an impressive five seconds.
Green cars have been a cause for ridicule in the past with people believing them to be not as fast or powerful as regular cars, but Elon Musk and his team have really proved with this model that this isn’t the case.
The semi truck will be a god-send for environmentally conscious companies who need to use large trucks to transport their good cross-country but who are well aware of the damage this does to the environment when done with regular petrol or diesel trucks.
Tesla claim that even with a load of 80,000 pounds, the electric truck will reach speeds of 60 mph in just 20 seconds, this is much quicker than any diesel truck on the market.
The automatic truck gives it a smooth acceleration and deceleration, and it can store 98% kinetic energy in the battery, meaning power will never be an issue.
Musk says the truck has also been designed with safety in mind, and says that ‘jackknifing’ is impossible due to an advanced torque system. Many motorway accidents are caused as a result of lorries losing control as their heavy loads are difficult to maneuver at high speeds.
The cabin has been designed with comfort and safety in mind, with the driver positioned in the center of the truck, which improves visibility.
To boost sales of the trucks, Tesla plan to install Megachargers in locations across the country, so charging will never be a problem. These super fast chargers can give the truck an extra 400 miles of power in only 30 minutes.
