Preacher declares the word of God is ‘Just not true’.
The power of religion is so powerful that once it takes hold, a person is often indoctrinated for life, so videos like this are pretty unusual.
Ex-preacher Kevin Wesley documented his turn away from faith in two shocking videos he posted to his Facebook page last month, in which we see him unraveling his own faith as we see him go from preacher to ‘ex’ preacher.
In the videos he shares some of his innermost thoughts about faith and his chosen profession, we see him waver from unsure to definitely certain in a short space of time, as the truth seems to hit him like a steam train. The poignant videos were made even more hard hitting by the fact that he posted them on Christmas day.
Wesley wrote the following accompaniment to the videos where he explains his decision to family and friends:
“I put up a post yesterday on Facebook that said, “What if the Bible is not the word of God?” Needless to say, people were appalled by — disgusted even… I’m quoting them, okay?
They said they’ve seen me preach, they have seen me cry, they have seen me minister, they have seen me with my hands raised, loving Jesus. And that’s true. I was a preacher. I was a minister. I was a dancer. All these things. I was a gospel rapper.
But if I can do all these things, and you witnessed my sincerity while I was doing these things, don’t you think I must have came across something sincere? Something that’s so valid that it shook my belief, even when I didn’t want it to?
So you say you’re going to pray for me. You don’t think I’ve prayed? You don’t think I’ve begged this Jesus I grew up believing in to just show me the validity? You don’t think I researched and tried to prove that this Bible was no doubt the inspired word of God?
I tried. And it’s just not true. Okay?
So [there] comes a time in every man’s life when he has to make a choice. I understand there’s a lot of people who saw me be Christian, who saw me love Jesus, pray to Jesus, worship Jesus. I understand that. But to all of you people that I love dearly, I have to tell you: I am making a choice to stand on what I now know to be truth. And if you don’t wanna be my friend anymore, then you were never my friend to begin with…”
Wesley’s words heavily imply that organized religion is just another way of controlling black people. The video touched a lot of nerves, being viewed over 300,000 times on Youtube.
Wesley has since stated that he has been ‘suspended’ from work, and has stated that his beef is not with religion per se (he now states that his does not identify himself as an atheist) but he has huge problems with the indoctrination of organized religions.
History does not back the Bible! We're being lied to!!!
