These ‘wind trees’ could be the future of renewable energy.
The renewable energy market is big business, and ideas are constantly advancing which push the boundaries of what we know.
Renewable energy, and particularly wind turbines are often met with much contention.
They are seen as as ugly ‘eyesores’, petitions are often set up to stop wind farms being erected off shore as to not ‘spoil the view’.
Technology in this area has also moved relatively slow, as the companies who believe in this type pf power have had a hard time getting the public on side.
But this is all set to change with the invention of the ingenious ‘wind trees’.
Created by French company ‘New Wind‘ the trees are amazing feats of engineering but more importantly they also hit the mark in one area that wind turbines often fall down – they are beautiful to look at.
Specially designed to look like exotic trees, the wind trees are pleasing on the eye and would not look out of place at an art gallery.
OK so they don’t look exactly like real trees, but that isn’t the point. The hardest part of bringing technology to fuse with nature is fitting the two opposing ideas next to each seamlessly, which the wind tree has thankfully achieved.
The trees emulate the grace of real shrubbery, reminding you that nature is king, but taking ideas from nature to create beautiful and useful pieces of equipment that not only look great but help the environment.
The wind trees are fitted with a small turbine at the end of each ‘branch’ which can produce 3 kilowatts of electricity.
We think the future of renewable energy lies in these clever ideas which doesn’t stamp on natures ties, but works along side it in perfect harmony.
