The Weinstein scandal has shone a light on the other serious problem in Hollywood.
The sexual abuse claims that keep coming against Weinstein have shocked the world, but more than that they have highlighted just how easy it is for people in power to act in such ways in the open and get away with it.
Many high profile stars have told of how they heard the rumors about Weinstein but still they let him get away with it, and this seems to be a running theme in Hollywood.
A film has been released in the wake of the Weinstein scandal, it was originally released a few years ago but failed to gain attention due in part to the reluctance of people to accept that Hollywood has this sort of problem, only this time the subject is even more uncomfortable.
“An Open Secret,” produced by Gabe Hoffman shines a light on the problem with pedophilia in Hollywood – something that a couple of stars have tried to blow the whistle on, although it fell upon deaf ears.
Child star Corey Feldman is one of the voices in the film speaking out about the abuse he and his co-star the late Corey Haim suffered in Hollywood in the 80’s.
In the film Feldman says:
“The Number one problem in Hollywood was and always will be pedophilia,”.
The film was released online shortly after the Weisntein scandal broke, and will be available until October 31st.
Many of the tales in the film have not been taken seriously until now Hollywood seems to be waking up and accepting it has a problem.
Hoffman told the Hollywood Reporter:
“It’s so funny to keep seeing headlines about how Harvey’s abuse was ‘an open secret’ in Hollywood, and that’s the name of our film.
We haven’t got any offers from major distributors yet because Hollywood doesn’t want to expose its dirty laundry, so we’ve been sitting on this for a while. Now, we want to celebrate the brave women who have exposed Harvey,”
