Woman accidentally killed by hunter who mistook her for a deer.
President Donald Trump keep talking about he is making ‘America great again’ yet he is staunchly ignoring the calls for a change in gun laws.
America, the only country where shootings of innocent civilians happen on a daily basis also happens to be the country with the most relaxed gun laws, how longer can the government go on pretending that this is just a coincidence?
Rosemary Billquist was walking her dogs the day before Thanksgiving in her home town of Sherman, New York when she was shot in the hip, and killed just 100 yards away from her home.
“The hunter, neighbor Thomas Jadlowski, rushed over to Billquist when he heard her scream, according to police. He called 911 and applied pressure to her wound while waiting for emergency responders to arrive. Billquist was transported to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.”
Billquist was shot around 40 minutes after sunset, and according to state law it is illegal to hunt deer after it is dark, however no charges have been brought at this time.
Her husband Jamie Billquist said:
“They tried saving her,” but “It was just too bad. … It’s horrific. It will be with me the rest of my life.”
He posted a heartfelt tribute to his late wife on his Facebook page, saying “I know she’s touched so many lives with her kindness,”
Over 13,000 people were killed by guns in the U.S and a further 27,000 were injured. Many U.S citizens accept gun violence as part of their daily lives, they are not shocked by it, they have come to expect it.
It is not like this in most other places in the world, and the fragile masculinity which is keeping the gun laws as they are has so much to answer for. Sadly it doesn’t look like Trump is going to be changing the gun laws any time soon.
